CI Connection Competition

The CI Connection Competition is a flagship initiative of the Office of Confucius Institutes at BFSU. Designed as a cornerstone program for professional development across BFSU’s network of co-hosted Confucius Institutes, it serves a diverse community of frontline educators, including institute directors, international Chinese language teachers, volunteer teachers, local teaching staff, and overseas volunteers.

Since its establishment in 2018, the competition has seen ten successful editions, attracting submissions from over 400 participants and engaging more than 600 institute faculty and students. The competition fosters professional growth, promotes deeper engagement with Chinese language and culture, and strengthens community bonds, thereby enhancing the visibility and mutual understanding across the Confucius Institute network of BFSU.

CI Connection: My Journey with BFSU

This essay and video competition invited participants to share personal stories of their experiences at BFSU or Confucius Institutes co-hosted by BFSU. Submissions highlighted meaningful moments—whether participating in institute activities, studying Chinese, or reflecting on relationships with faculty. Participants shared their growth, insights, and heartfelt messages commemorating BFSU’s 80^th anniversary.

2022: Culture Through Language

CI Connection: Culture in the Classroom

This pedagogical competition challenged educators to design lesson plans that weave cultural elements into Chinese language instruction. The initiative promoted deeper awareness of culture’s role in language learning, elevated teaching practice, and fostered holistic development of students’ linguistic and cultural competencies.
