Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) welcomed Joan Guàrdia, rector of the University of Barcelona, and Raúl Ramos, vice rector, on May 14. Li Hai, Chairman of BFSU University Council, received the delegation, and the two universities signed a student exchange cooperation agreement and an Erasmus program agreement.
Li underscored the deep collaborative foundation between the institutions in cultivating high-level talent and developing the Confucius Institute, pointing to frequent high-level visits and substantive progress on joint initiatives. He expressed optimism about the partnership’s future trajectory and proposed expanding cooperation across multiple domains including research, joint training programs, faculty exchange, and collaborative degree offerings—endeavors aimed at strengthening educational cooperation, fostering people-to-people exchange, and deepening cultural understanding between China and Spain.
Guàrdia emphasized that the Confucius Institute in Barcelona has become a vital bridge connecting Spanish and Chinese higher education. He identified BFSU as a strategic partner of significance and expressed enthusiasm for identifying new collaborative opportunities that build upon the existing relationship.
