The past 11 years witnessed the great-leap-forward development of oversea Confucius Institutes under the direct leadership of Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) and with the close cooperation and joint efforts of over 400 universities at home and abroad. Confucius Institute has become a good example of foreign-oriented Chinese education and cultural communication and cooperation. During the process, some of the brand projects enjoy great popularity and have developed unique characteristics. BFSU, as an advanced Chinese partner of Confucius Institutes, has undertaken Confucius Institute specialized management for 8 years, during which period a variety of activities of “Going Global” for Chinese culture programs have been carried out. In 2013, Multi-lingual Base for International Promotion of Chinese (MBIPC) of BFSU launched a new program, namely “Let’s talk about Cultural China”, an oversea lecturing tour of BFSU scholars.

Aiming at promoting the communication between our university and overseas Confucius Institutes, universities and cultural institutions, the program makes full use of the compound and multilingual advantages of our school by sending experts who are proficient in foreign languages and competent in business to go on an overseas lecturing tour to introduce the present situations of China. In the past initial two years of the program, our university has sent a total of 10 experts to Poland, the Czech Republic, Belgium, Bulgaria, Austria, Germany, and Russia to introduce Chinese culture, politics, economy, diplomacy and other hot issues to the local people, communicate and share thoughts with China experts and scholars interested in Chinese culture, sowing the seeds of communication and friendship.

In order to provide opportunities for more BFSU teachers to participate in the overseas lecturing tour, MBIPC hereby particularly recruits those who would like to be the lecturing scholars of “Let’s talk about Cultural China”. Moreover, MBIPC will establish a program expert database and send experts and scholars of our university to give lectures abroad according to the demands of the oversea Confucius Institutes.

The requirements for the oversea tour-lecturing experts of BFSU scholars for “Let’s Talk about Culture China” are as follows,

1. Eligibility

1) BFSU permanent staff with lecturer (doctorate) title or above;

2) Capable of giving lectures on one or more special topics of contemporary China’s national conditions (the lecture contents include politics, culture, economy, law, diplomacy, media, ethnic religion, etc.) in one foreign language;

3) Willing to go to overseas Confucius Institutes undertaken by BFSU or overseas cooperation agencies to give lectures.

1. Responsibilities and duties of MBIPC and experts

1) Responsibilities and duties of MBIPC;

Ø Properly arranging experts and scholars to go on the overseas lecturing tour in accordance with the work plan (in principle, twice each year with 2-3 experts each time);

Ø Providing international travelling fees, insurance, accommodations, and transportation support for lecture experts and scholars on overseas lecturing;

Ø Providing a certain amount of lecture fees for lecture experts and scholars;

Ø Recommending experts and scholars to participate in overseas lecturing tour and other academic projects held by the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban).

2) Responsibilities and duties of experts and scholars

Ø Abiding by the program arrangements;

Ø Responsible for work and providing high-quality academic lectures for overseas Confucius Institutes;

Ø Obeying diplomatic disciplines and related regulations of the Confucius Institutes;

Ø Having the priority to enjoy other MBIPC academic resources.
