BFSU has played an active role in co-hosting Confucius Institutes since 2005. Today, BFSU has co-hosted 23 Confucius Institutes/Independent Classroom in collaboration with universities, colleges and institutions from 18 countries, ranking the top among Chinese universities. With the dual mission of “introducing the world to China” and “introducing China to the world”, BFSU is committed to international talent cultivation and international faculty development, and strives to build a broad platform for international exchange and cooperation.
Founded in May 2007, the Office of Confucius Institutes at BFSU is the first specialized division on Confucius Institutes in Chinese universities. The functions include the following seven areas: daily communication and coordination of Confucius Institutes, formulation and implementation of rules and regulations, staff training and selection, information mining, project planning and implementation, study of best operation models, as well as emergency management and problem solving. At present, we have sent a total of about 900 Chinese Directors, international Chinese language teachers, and volunteer Chinese language teachers to Confucius Institutes in these countries, offering Confucius Institutes with opportunities for exchange and discussion, enhancing friendship, establishing cooperation, and making joint progress. By organizing the International Forum of BFSU Co-hosted CIs, we have established a network for Confucius Institutes, expanded their cooperation, and enabled them to share high-quality resources. By organizing summer camps in multilingual countries, we offer opportunities for young people and Chinese language learners from all over the world to learn about Chinese culture and experience modern life in China.
