From Apr. 23 to May 1, 2024, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia, a group of 28 teachers and students from BFSU traveled to Malaysia and Thailand for a series of performances, lectures, and exhibitions. The art troupe visited Universiti Malaya, Saad Foundation School in Malacca, and Universiti Teknologi MARA in Malaysia, as well as Chulalongkorn University and Brighton College Bangkok in Thailand. Yan Jiabao, a teacher at the Office of Confucius Institutes at BFSU and a young xiangsheng (crosstalk) performer, delivered multiple lectures in both Chinese and English on “Appreciation and Practice of Xiangsheng Art” in Malaysia and Thailand.
