On Jan. 9, 2019, the 6th Board Meeting of LCI was held as a teleconference between SOAS, University of London, and BFSU.

During the meeting, LCI Foreign Director Lutz Marten and Deputy Director Lik Suena reported to the board on issues such as Chinese language teaching, cultural activities, scholarship programs, cooperation and exchanges with China, academic research, institutional development, special features of LCI, and financial report of LCI for 2017-2018. The board discussed and endorsed the appointment of new Chinese and foreign directors of LCI and the minutes of board meeting 2017. President Peng Long addressed the meeting and spoke highly of the achievements made by LCI and hoped for closer ties between the two universities with LCI and its board serving as a bridge and a platform. The two sides then had a discussion on issues such as exchange visits by leaders of the two universities, and inviting SOAS to join the Global Alliance of Foreign Studies Universities, of which BFSU was one of the founders.
