President Peng Long Met Bandula Gunawardena, Member of Parliament of Sri Lanka and Doctoral Candidate of BFSU
 

On the afternoon of October 13, Bandula Gunawardena, Member of Parliament and former Minister of Education of Sri Lanka, and doctoral candidate of “Confucius China Studies Program” of BFSU, visited our university. President Peng Long met him.

Bandula Gunawardena expressed thanks to the university and the tutor group for giving him strong support, help and instruction in the past year or so and made a detailed report on his latest doctoral research as well as the progress of his doctoral dissertation. He mentioned that he would make a further research and study on the Sino-Sri Lanka relationship and economic development, bearing the hope that his research could promote the mutual understanding and trust between the two countries.

Peng Long praised Bandula Gunawardena for his learning spirit and inquiring mind. He indicated that the study of Bandula Gunawardenawould enlighten related academic studies of BFSU, significantly affect the study of Sri Lanka in China and vice versa and make outstanding contributions to the friendly development of our two countries. In the future, more scholars from China and Sri Lanka would carry out in-depth researches in Sino-Sri Lanka relationship with the enlightenment of the study of Doctor Bandula Gunawardena.

A deep discussion was carried out in further strengthening the mutual visits and joint researches of scholars from China and Sri Lanka and in promoting the establishment of the Confucius Institute by BFSU and University of Colombo.

Ke Jing, head of the International Exchange and Cooperation Office, Zhang Xiaohui, head of Office of the Confucius Institute, and associate professor Ma Zhongwu, director of the Sri Lanka Research Center at the School of Asian and African Studies attended the meeting.
