Local time Mar. 20th, , the Chinese-Italian readers’ seminar on Xi Jinping: The Governance of China was held in Rome, on the occassion of President Xi Jinping’s visit to Italy. Jointly organized by the State Council Information Office of China, Chinese Foreign Language Publishing Administration and the Chinese Embassy in Italy, the seminar was attended by 200 Chinese and foreign guests, including Vito Petrocelli, President of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Senate of Italy, Marina Sereni, former Vice President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Italian Parliament, Jiang Jianguo, Deputy Head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, and Li Ruiyu, Chinese ambassador to Italy. Besides, Federico Masini and Zhang Hong, Italian and Chinese Directors of CISUR, as well as over 30 teachers and students of the CISUR and the Confucius Classroom at Rome Convitto Nazionnale Vittorio Emanuele II attended the event.
Jiang Jianguo read President Xi Jinping’s letter of response to Paolo Maria Reale, President of Rome Convitto Nazionnale Vittorio Emanuele II, and eight high school students. The President wished all the students to “give full play to your youth and realize your dreams” and expressed his expectation for friendship and more interaction among young people from the two countries. Mr. Jiang also presented the Chinese version of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China (Vol. II), which bore President Xi’s signature. Teachers and students said the letter from President Xi Jinping was a great surprise to the whole school, and that they would work harder to learn Chinese and President Xi’s ideas and become ambassadors of cultural exchanges between the two countries.
