Nov. 28th, 2018 Board Meeting of CI-UHM was held as video conference by the University of Hawaii (UH) and BFSU, wth attendees including Michael S. Bruno, Vice Chancellor for academic research of UH & President of CI-UHM Board; R. Anderson Sutton, Dean, School of Pacific and Asian Studies, UHM; David Yang, Head of Chinese Center of UH; Yan Guohua, Vice President of BFSU; Jin Limin, Director of BFSU Office of Confucius Institutes; American Director of CI-UHM Cynthia Y. Ning and Chinese Director Zhai Zheng. The board members listened to the directors of CI-UHM’s report on last year’s work and the plans for key programs in 2019, and discussed the opportunities and challenges CI-UHM now facing. This meeting witnessed a further extension of the interaction between the two universities, in terms of the implentation of the exchange program and “3+2” program. It is looked forward to that the cooperation between two unviersities can be expanded from linguistic areas such as second laguage acquisition to broader realms.
