Ferenc Hudecz, Honorary Council Member of Confucius Institute Headquarters and Former President of Eötvös Loránd University, Visited BFSU
 

On May 11, 2015, Ferenc Hudecz, Honorary Council Member of Confucius Institute Headquarters and former president of Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), and Hamar Imre, Director of the Confucius Institute at ELTE visited BFSU. President Peng Long and Vice-president Yan Guohua greeted them.

Mr. Peng Long  thanked Mr. Hudecz for his consistent attention and support in developing Confucius Institute and hoped that BFSU and ELTE could cooperate in a more comprehensive way, enhancing both the level and scale of cooperation. He hoped that cooperation and exchange be conducted not only in linguistic majors like Hungarian and Chinese, but also in other non-linguistic disciplines including economy, law, international relations and news media.

Mr. Hudecz also expressed his thanks to BFSU for its efforts in promoting the construction of the Confucius Institute at ELTE. He said that the two sides should give full play to their advantages so as to cooperate more closely in teacher exchange, personnel training, credit transfer and regional studies.

The Confucius Institute at ELTE was established jointly by Eötvös Loránd University of Hungary and BFSU in 2006. The Institute is dedicated to integrating local resources of Chinese language throughout Hungary and carrying out a spectrum of Chinese-teaching and cultural activities for students and the public. It introduced Chinese courses in 27 Hungarian educational institutions including universities, middle schools and primary schools in Hungary, the teaching centers of which cover 10 major cities, with more than 3000 students registered. In 2011, the two universities jointly edited and published the first country-specific Chinese-learning textbook in Hungary,The Hungarian Chinese Textbook. In November 2014, in response to the urgent demand for high-quality Chinese teachers in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), “Training Center for Chinese Teacher in CEE” was officially established, offering training courses for Chinese language teachers in 16 CEE countries as a regional centre. ELTE won the Confucius Institute Award for many times. Mr. Hudecz and Mr. Imer are also among the recipients of the Global Award for Advanced Individuals.
