From August 1 to 30, 2015, the 2015 Summer Camp of the Kongzi Institute at the University of Malaya, Malaysia was successfully held. This summer camp was hosted by Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU), and organized by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press (FLTRP). 16 students from the University of Malaya, Malaysia came to BFSU to attend the one-month summer camp.
After four weeks’ learning, the summer camp came to a conclusion on the morning of August 28 with a closing ceremony. Guests to the closing ceremony included Professor Wu Zongyu, Director of the Chinese Malay Research Center in BFSU, Professor He Jing and Liu Xiaochen, Deputy Directors of the Office of the Confucius Institute at BFSU, Fu Congcong from the School of Asian and African Studies in BFSU, Zhou Chaohong, director of the Training Department of Comprehensive Language Press, a division of FLTRP, and Project Manager, Zhang Yufang.
Deputy Director He Jing, Professor Wu Zongyu, and Mr. Fadial, leader of the Malay campers gave speeches respectively. In her speech, Deputy Director He spoke highly of the campers’ performance and progress, expected them to spread Chinese culture and language after returning home, and hoped they might come to BFSU for further study in the future. Professor Wu extended greetings to the campers in Malay, asked about their study and life in Beijing, and shared his work and experience with them. Mr. Fadial expressed thanks to BFSU and FLTRP in his speech. After that, all campers together sang a Chinese song,Friends, to commemorate the friendship between China and Malaysia.
This summer camp aimed at Chinese language learning, with abundant cultural courses and practical linguistic activities. At the end of the summer camp, all campers were organized to take the HSK test (level 1) and achieved excellent results. This summer camp was successfully held under instructions of the Office of the Confucius Institute in BFSU (Multilingual Base for International Promotion of Chinese Language) and strong support from BFSU’s Office for International Student Affairs, Chinese Malay Study Center and the School of Asian and African Studies in BFSU.
